The Mississippi River in spring

            For most of the year, the Mississippi River remains an impressive yet quiet neighbor, content to stay the course on its perpetual journey to the gulf.  In some springs, however, the river becomes a restless traveler, quits its banks and comes calling on its neighbors. She visits parks, streets, back yards, and even sneaks around the back way into bluff-side fields. 2011 is one of those years.

Eagle Watching in Driftless Wisconsin

Along highway 27, which dissects the Mississippi and Kickapoo River watersheds along the overlooking ridge line, a convention of 20 bald eagles convenes for a meal on a snow-covered field.

A Little Tranquility

I envy you.  Having lived here most of my life, I’ve grown accustomed to the serenity of Driftless Wisconsin.  But as a first-time visitor, perhaps, you’ll get to experience it for the first time.
