ViolaViola and the surrounding area were first inhabited by the group of people known as the “Mound Builders.” These people left earth mounds, some shaped like birds or animals, on bluffs and river edges in the region. Viola’s Mound Park is named to honor these earliest of inhabitants. Viola is now best known for its Horse and Colt Show, held every September, with its horse pulls, tractor pulls, carnival and country music show. Camping is available on the banks of the Kickapoo River in the park. For more information, call the Viola Village Clerk—(608) 627-1831 |
